Primal Insanity

Here are the results of my first fit test after doing the INSANITY workout for 2 weeks. I was pretty impressed with my overall gains. During this time I haven't taken any supplements and have kept a 60% primal diet (see www.primalblueprint.com for the best description of that diet). Over the next few weeks I plan on starting to take supplements in order to rev up my weight loss and overall energy levels. I already feel a lot better than I did just a few weeks ago, I know I can go eve...

10 Real-Life Reasons Why the Primal Blueprint Works for Me | Mark’s Daily Apple

There’s been a lot more talk in the mainstream recently about “caveman” diets and barefoot training. Primal/Paleo/Evo seems to be gaining in popularity and may be nearing the critical mass needed to garner mainstream appreciation. John Durant appeared on Stephen Colbert last week, Art De Vany was featured in Der Spiegel, Born to Run is a NYT Bestseller and my book recently made the top ten Health and Fitness titles on Amazon. Even so, we Primal types still get those occasional looks of deris...

Primal Tea

So here I was ready to write one of the best primal tea primer's on the web, but just before I did I decided that I would check out www.marksdailyapple.com to see if he had written anything good on the subject. Not only did he write something good...it is GREAT! Check it out. All true “teas” are from the same plant. (Herbal teas aren’t really tea. While they may offer certain particular, often marginal “medicinal” benefit, they generally don’t contain the same antioxidant load of...

Primal Soda

So, kicking the soda habit for me is one of those things that I just can't get past. I know it is bad for me, but a coke with Mexican food is one of those things that I just love and crave. You? I was looking for alternatives that I might like that give me that sparkly kick without the calories. Diet Sodas are definitely out. First, can't stand the taste. Second, the chemicals they put in them are horrible for you. So what am I left with... That's right...

Paleo Footwear

So I was doing some research and I found a great resource on footwear for the Paleo/Primal lifestyle person. On www.paleodiet.com they have a ton of resources but the footwear section is what I found so interesting. Take a look... Looks like they are all from Vivo Footwear, which make a great shoe. Footwear for Hunting and Gathering When out hunting and gathering our paleo ancestors would have been barefooted. They would have been walking on dirt and stone. The li...

Coffee and Paleo?

Image via Wikipedia So can you drink coffee and still follow the Paleo/Primal lifestyle? I wanted to find out so I did a little search around the internet and I found a great article on whether or not coffee...let alone caffiene...is something you can keep in your life while trying to be primal. Mark's Daily Apple This is a website you should read daily. Mark has so much information and experience with the Primal lifestyle that he makes a lot of us jealous with it. (They guy is...

Caffeine Reduction in 5 easy steps

Image via Wikipedia I posted 7 days of my caffeine reduction plan on this website. After that life got the best of me. I won't make excuses but instead move forward and provide some good tips that I discovered while reducing the amount of caffeine I drink. This was not an easy journey, but I found following the paleo diet while doing this made things much easier. My body felt better and cleaner and therefore it was easier to kick the habit. A body full of carbs really made me crave co...
